Morning Routine For Success

Waking up in the morning is hard for most of us, but when we take care of ourselves in the morning hours it encourages a more successful day.

We all know that the early bird gets the worm, and that waking up early creates more time for productivity and relaxation throughout the day, and yet when the alarm goes off each morning these adages go right out the window, and many of us give in to the sweet temptation of the “Snooze” button. While sleeping in does have its benefits, here is a suggested morning routine to get you going and live your days as a successful human being, whatever this means for you.

  • Prayer and Meditation
Start off by saying a quick prayer before getting out of bed. The prayer can be short and simple, something along the lines of “Thank you for this new, amazing day.” The idea here is to set a positive mindset. If your first morning thoughts are positive, the events of your day will likely follow suit. Afterwards, take five minutes to sit in silence, cultivating inner peace before moving on into your day.

  • Drink Water
When you wake up, you haven’t had water in many, many hours. Whether you realize it or not, you are on the way to being dehydrated. Drinking sixteen ounces of water will revitalize you, and help you to gather the strength you need to get out of bed.

  • Read a Book
Facing the day can feel daunting enough to want to hide under your covers for hours, but you don’t have to take on the entire day in one full piece. Instead, you can ease your way into the day by casually and calmly reading a book, using this time to feel yourself gradually wake up and become ready to take the next step.

  • Plan your Day
To have a successful day, it helps to set goals. When you put your daily goals into writing, you become more likely to accomplish them. An important thing to remember, however, is to be kind to yourself in the event that you don’t meet all your goals. Scolding yourself doesn’t lead to success, so end any habits of berating yourself when you fall short on your goals. You should always aim high, but you should never think that ending the day with a few items left uncrossed means that you have failed. As the philanthropist and new-thought author once said, “Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.”

These are the actions that successful people practice before starting their days. When you have an effective, centering morning routine, you create a stable base for your entire day to rest on.
